Joel Twist Fishes the Salmon River in Pulaski, NY with High Hook Guide Service
|
My brother and I got up to Pulaski about an hour early anticipating a
good day of fishing. When we met Bill Furman, we got all our tackle and
what not and started out. The first spot we came to was already occupied
by someone from Vermont. On to the next spot, where Bill said his son
caught a real nice fish week or two before. On our about a 1/2 mile up the
creek we spotted a couple salmon near a log jam. There were 5-6 fish in
this hole, but after several casts and a few hits, we came up with nothing.
Bill elected to go downstream where we spotted the ones earlier. Finally,
we came on salmon dropped in the line with the egg sac, and a hook up.

Around a tree into the creek, the chase is on. Under a log, over a long, 40
yard run down the creek. 10-15 minutes later Bill got the 33 inch 13 lb
Steelhead in the net. Had an awesome time. Fishing was starting to slow
down this late in April, according to Bill. I positively think that in order to
keep these prized coming to us sportsmen, we need to try and take trips
with these guides and outfitters besides just the free ones. These guides
pi in the work all year round to make these enjoyable trips. Bill Ferman did
an excellent job finding the fish and telling us how to set the hook, and
where to put the bait to drift by the fish. Below are the pictures that my
brother took on our trip with Bill.
Thanks to Bill for a great day of Salmon Fishing.
