| Last year I was contacted by Dan Leonard of US Outdoorsman Central and he told me I had won a fishing trip on Lake Ontario for 4 with Dandy Eyes Fishing Charters out of Pultneyville NY! My Son had just won a bear hunting trip to Jackman, Maine through US Outdoorsman Central with Bulldog Camps, where he shot his first bear, so I know the selection of Outfitters Dan and Jim Hanlon choose for their trips is top notch. I was a fishing guide on Lake Ontario for several years but had to give up my passion fo health reasons so I was really excited about this trip! I contacted Captain Jerry Snyder and we set up a trip for spring brown trout. I invited my Son and a couple of close friends and we headed to Pultneyville on April 15th for our trip. Unfortunately, the weather was terrible with close to 30 mph winds blowing right towards shore so we could not get out. Capt. Jerry went above and beyond to reschedule our trip for later in the year for salmon. We rescheduled for July 29th and decided to also book Jerry for the next day. We arrived on July 29th ad met Jerry at the boat and we headed out to the lake. We got the lines out and began fishing but the weather once again turned bad and the winds picked up really strong. We started with 3 foot waves but ended with 8 - 10 footers by the time we got back to harbor. Capt Jerry's many years of experience in rough condiions, put everyone at ease as he brought us back safe and sound. It was pretty hairy a couple of times, but he handled it like a Pro. The next moring, we finally woke to decent weather with just a little wind. We met Jerry at his house at 6 am and after a cup of coffee, we headed to the boat. We got out on the lake and Capt Jerry and First Mate Tom set all the lines and we began trolling. It didn't take long for the action to start! We got our first release which ended up being a smaller salmon which we let go. Then we caught 2 beautiful steelhead back to back. Then we got into the big ones and started picking up the King of the lake! Chinook Salmon! I am partially disabled so being on rougher water and getting to the back of a boat to fight a fish is hard for me, but with Dandy Eyes Charters, that isn't a problem at all! Jerry has a large bench seat which he is able to bring right to the back of the boat to make you feel stable and compfortable. We hooked a good fish and I was able to get in the seat and to the back of the boat with ease and the next thing I knew, I was fighting my first King Salmon in almost 15 years!! It was a good fight and ended with me catching a 17 lb salmon!! It brought back a thousand memories of what was once a passion for me. This trip was amazing and the technology Jerry has has come a long way from when I was a Guide. He's top notch as a Captain and I highly recommend him to anyone as his rates are extremely reasonable compared to many of the other Charters on the Lake. He goes the extra mile to assure you have a safe and enjoyable trip. We ended the day catching 6 salmon, losing 5, (not by anyone's fault but Nature) and 2 beautiful steelhead. All of which were cleaned, washed, and ready for the freezer by Dandy Eyes! We have already booked for next season and can't wait to get together with Jerry again. Thank you Jim, Dan, and US Outdoorsman Central for bringing my passion I used to love back to me and for helping so many others in the Club live their dreams also.
