| Deer hunting season ended just in time to get the Christmas shopping done! What a great year I had, Complements of US Outdoorsman Central. I was the lucky winner of a Complete Hunting Package. Included in the package was a Suzuki 4x4 ATV from Wheel-A-Way in Fulton NY. A one week guided hunting trip for 2 to Engle-eye outfitters in PennYan, NY, a Cougar Claw tree stand and a Kingdom Knife. Along with some other prizes like Bow Release , and even deer sense!! This was the real deal, the complete package. I couldn't believe I won it! The Suzuki 4X4 is a great machine. We have been riding and using it around our home as well as riding the trails in the Tug Hill area. We are having a lot of fun with it. The hunting trip is something that I have wanted to do for many years. Eagle-eye Outfitters is in the Finger Lakes area where they follow all NY State hunting guide lines and seasons. I took my brother in law and hunting partner Rick Delong on a five day bow hunt! What a ball! We went down a day early, this let Dale and the other guides get to know you. They need to see if you can really shoot a bow, or if they will have to get you bigger targets! They check and make sure your license is in order, and you get familiar with the tree stand you are going to use in the morning. You can bring your own stand if you choice too. I took the Cougar Claw Stand that I won as well as my knife and my other prizes. Dale Lane, one of the owners showed us around. He has the most amazing trophy room I’ve ever seen. He has hunted around the world. He has mounts that I couldn’t even identify and they all came with a story. We started off with a great dinner, and met all the guys on this hunt, about 16 in all. They were a great bunch of guys and we had lots of laughs. Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire were some of the places that they had traveled from. This is a beautiful place, with no detailed over looked. The rooms were very nice and the meals were perfect. At the end of the day we were able to play pool or watch one of many big screen TV’s. We mostly sat around and swapped hunting stories. Caution, if you’ re looking for a hunting camp where a nice soft sexy voice wakes you up in the morning this isn’t it! They hunt hard and they are all business. The guides take you to your tree stand and picked you up. I never moved my truck for five days! They take care of everything. Our job was to hunt and have fun. Eagle-eye has over 4,000 acres you can hunt and hundreds of tree stands all in prime hunting spots in the middle of the finger lake region. Mitch and Dale are true professionals they gather information about the deer, where they are moving, bucks or doe and they would make adjustments from that. Just watching them gut a deer, I have never seen it done so fast! I had a chance to track a deer with Dale one of the owners, I think I know why they call Eagle eye. He can see a drop of blood on a red leaf at 100 yards in the dark! Everyone saw deer every day, getting good shots was the next step. Some of the guys on the hunt were successful, as you know seeing a deer is just half the battle. I had my chances but unfortunately I wasn’t able to capitalize on them. But I still had one of the best times of my life. Anyone wanting to go on a hunt in the Finger Lakes area in New York State, I would highly recommend Eagle-Eye Outfitters and Dale Lane.
