Dave McCann's Winning Charter Trip with
Dave Wilson's Charters on Lake Ontario
It was a calm foggy morning on May 27, 2006 when David McCann met up
with Charter Captain Dave Wilson in the Oswego Harbor. Captain Dave
called NYOC headquarters mid week and told me he had a gut feeling that
the fish were going to be biting on the weekend due to improving weather
conditions. He asked me to pass on his gut feeling to David McCann to see
if he could possibly  meet him Saturday morning in Oswego. He was sure
that it would be an action packed adventure. When I called David McCann
and told him what Captain Dave had said, David was eager to book his
winning trip and what a trip it turned out to be.
Charter captains, like Dave Wilson have sixth sense about fishing and fishing
conditions and that is the mark of a great charter captain. By Dave using his
physical skills and natural ability to find fish made this trip unforgettable for
several people, including us at NYOC.

Dear NYOC,

We all had an awesome day on the trip I won with Captain Dave Wilson's Fishing
Charters out of Oswego, NY.  I choose to take my 9 year old daughter, Maureen, my
father Rick and my friend Gary Benedict (both are now members). The morning
started off with real dense fog and a little chop. There were a lot of boats fishing
for browns in the dense fog.  For safety reasons Captain Dave Wilson opted to fish
the deeper water and avoid traffic.  His decision paid off as we heard the browns
quit hitting shortly after we left the dock. Within the first half hour of being set up I
landed one of the biggest fish of my life - about a 17 -20lb king salmon.
The action remained steady throughout the entire trip and I later
landed a real nice landlocked salmon.  With a little help from Gary,
Maureen landed  two steelheads and couldn't be prouder or
happier and ....."YES we can keep them". and my father topped the
day with two big kings one almost 20lbs and the other weighed in at
26lbs. All and all we had an exceptional day of fishing -- owed to an
excellent guide, mate and most of all to NYOC.  Back at home we
shared a lifetime story, told for the first time, over an unbelievably
great lunch. My only regret is that I didn't catch the biggest fish -
but than again I didn't have to clean the biggest fish either.
Thanks again, Dave McCann
with the all the parties involved that made this trip come together
and we are very excited that David McCann took his 9 year old
daughter Maureen along. This is something that she will never
forget. Not only did she catch fish, but she got to do it with her dad
and grandpa. Maureen's picture will be placed into our "Kid's
Trophy Room" to show all her friends. Captain Dave Wilson also let
her drive his charter boat.
Nice job Maureen!!
Look at this smile. It's priceless!
A big thanks to you Captain Dave from NYOC
